Try this method for sanitizing your home during this crucial season:

Once/twice a week (preferably end of the week when your routine changes) or daily when a family member is ill, take about 10-15 minutes to wipe down your home, personal electronic devices and vehicle surfaces – things that you touch most throughout the week. Carry a container of disinfecting wipes with you and go through each room in your home. Break it down by indoor and outdoor/garage. Here are the high-touch surfaces in and out of your home:

  • Faucets, soap dispensers, light and lamp switches, all doorknobs in the home, toilet seats and flushers, blind/shade cords, remote controls, commonly used cabinet and drawer pulls, appliance handles (refrigerator, dishwasher, washer/dryer doors, microwave, coffeemaker), home and cell phones, personal computers, laptops, radios, mp3 players and tablets.
  • Garage door openers, outer and inner car door handles, steering wheels, gear shifts, radio controls, garage door opener, climate control knobs, light and signal controls, seat belts and accessories.
